Hyundai Santro Sales Figures: New Santro Sales More Than Tata Tiago
Hyundai Santro Sales Figures: The all-new Santro sales has overtaken Renault Kwid & Tata Tiago sales figures. However, the segment leader in sales is still Maruti Celerio & WagonR.
The new Hyundai Santro was launched in India on October 23 at a starting price of Rs 3.89 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The Hyundai Santro is one of the few cars that was much loved and appreciated by the average Indian family.
The all-new Hyundai Santro too has been received with much appreciation and applause with bookings crossing the 30,000 milestone in under 15 days. Pre-bookings for the small family hatchback had opened on October 10, and even though it has been under a month, the Hyundai Santro has garnered 30,000 bookings.
Sales of such magnitude has contributed to Hyundai's overall numbers and ended up with the Korean car manufacturer selling the most cars ever, in the month of October. With the initial rush of bookings, The Hyundai Santro has left the Tata Tiago behind in sales numbers and is just short of number the Maruti Suzuki WagonR and Celerio managed to touch.
The new Hyundai Santro's sales report also reveals an interesting trend. 30 percent of the bookings for the new Hyundai Santro have come in for the AMT-driven variants.
Around 9,000 of the 30,000 bookings have been for the Automated Manual Transmission-driven variants and that quite simply describes the average Indian buyer's shift towards automated gearboxes.
21 percent of the bookings have gone towards the CNG-fueled variants and the petrol-powered variants with manual gearboxes have taken 49 percent of the bookings. The new Hyundai Santro is based on Hyundai's current design language and is bigger, wider and more spacious than the previous generation.
The new Hyundai Santro features a cascading grille, sweptback headlamps, new alloy wheels and a newly designed rear end as well while still maintaining a tallboy stance. The interiors too are brand new and has loads of features. The Hyundai Santro is equipped with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system that comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The new Hyundai Santro is powered by a 1.1-litre, four-cylinder, petrol engine with a maximum power output of 68bhp and a peak torque output of 99Nm. A 5-speed manual transmission comes as standard equipment, with the AMT gearbox available in just the Magna and Sportz variants.
