Hyundai i30 Spotted Testing In Pune — Will It Come To India?

The Hyundai i30 hatchback is equipped with an emission testing equipment at the rear. This development suggests that the Hyundai i30 might be launched in the Indian market sometime in 2019. But Hyundai has not revealed any information about the introduction of a premium hatchback in the country.

If launched in India, the Hyundai i30 will be slotted between the Elite i20 and the Creta SUV. But the hatchback measures just over four-metre in length, which is larger than some sedans sold in the country. Hyundai might make some changes to the dimensions to make the car compact.

The Hyundai i30 features the Fluidic Design Sculpture 2.0 design language with a new hexagonal grille, newly designed headlamps with integrated LED daytime running lights, roof-mounted spoiler and horizontally stacked split LED tail light cluster.

The Hyundai i30 sold in the European and American markets comply with the Euro VI emission norms. The India-spec i30 is likely to feature the same 1.4-litre and 1.6-litre petrol and diesel engines which also does its duty on the Verna. The Hyundai i30 is expected to be loaded with comfort and safety features.

Currently, there are no large premium hatchbacks in the Indian market and the i30 will not have a rival in the country. But Tata Motors is developing a new premium hatchback based on the 45X concept which was revealed at the Auto Expo 2018.

Recently, the Volkswagen Golf was also spotted in India hinting the German automakers plan to launch a premium hatchback in India.

Thoughts On The Hyundai i30 Hatchback

The Hyundai i30 is a premium hatchback and also larger in dimension when compared to the hatchbacks sold in India. The i30 will also be an expensive affair for Hyundai if launched will all the bells and whistles it gets in the global market. We expect Hyundai to do some modifications to the car to suit the Indian conditions and keep the costs down.
