Most of us might know how to drive an automatic. The absence of the clutch pedal makes an automatic car, a breeze to drive in the traffic. Latest automatic cars also come equipped with Hill Assist. The feature helps drivers move the car forward on an ascending slope without having to worry about the car moving backwards.
The Indian automotive market is witnessing a growing demand for automatic cars. However, some of us still do not know how to operate an automatic transmission. Hence, here are the driving modes in the Hyundai Creta automatic, explained!
Hyundai Creta Automatic 2018: Drive Modes
The 6-speed automatic transmission comes with five modes: Park (P), Reverse (R), Neutral (N), Drive (D) and Manual. While the first four modes are pretty straight-forward, the manual mode is for those who enjoy driving. Shifts between the modes can be made only by depressing the brake pedal. Here are the modes in detail:
- Park – Similar to handbrake, but locks the transmission rather than the brakes. It is always recommended to engage the handbrake too along with Park, while the SUV is at a complete halt. This is to prevent excess strain on the transmission.
- Reverse – As the name suggests, it puts the Creta in reverse.
- Neutral – Disengages the transmission and the engine. The difference between Neutral and Park is that ‘P' prevents the vehicle from moving while ‘N' doesn't. You can raise the engine rpm in both modes.
- Drive – The SUV moves forward in this mode. Release the brake pedal gradually and the Creta inches forward. This makes the car particularly convenient to drive in slow-moving traffic.
- Manual – The Hyundai Creta can be engaged in manual mode by tilting the gear lever to the right of ‘D'. In this position, you can shift up the gears by moving the lever in the ‘+' direction and ‘-' for downshifts.
- 1.6-litre petrol | 121bhp @ 6000rpm | 151Nm @ 4850rpm
- 1.4-litre diesel | 89bhp @ 4000rpm | 219Nm @ 1500rpm
- 1.6-litre diesel | 126bhp @ 4000rpm | 260Nm @ 1900rpm
