Hyundai AH2 (Santro) Pre-Bookings To Begin Soon — Details Revealed

Hyundai is all set to launch their new hatchback, codenamed the AH2 in India. The company will introduce the new car in the Indian market on the 23rd October 2018. According to reports from carandbike, Hyundai will start pre-bookings of the new AH2 hatchback from the 10th October 2018.

The Hyundai AH2 is said to bring back the popular ‘Santro' nameplate in India. Pre-bookings for the new hatchback will start from the 10th October till the 22nd, a day before the official launch.

Hyundai has already confirmed that the naming of the AH2 will take place on the 4th October, with its unveil scheduled for the 9th of the same month.

The new Hyundai Santro (AH2) will follow the company's ‘work in advance' strategy. This will allow Hyundai to meet all the upcoming road safety norms of the future. The new AH2 is also said to replace the Eon, making it the new entry-level hatchback for Hyundai in India.

The car will be based on Hyundai's HA platform as seen on the company's i10 offering. This platform offers a more rigid and stronger build compared to the Eon's PA underpinnings.

Hence offering a safer and premium build than the outgoing Eon. The Hyundai AH2 is also said to come standard with dual airbags, ABS and rear parking sensors.

The AH2 (Santro) hatchback has already been spotted testing in India, multiple times. The various testing images have already given us an idea of what the car would look like. The hatchback will continue to offer its tallboy design, with a slightly sloped roof and a prominent shoulder line.

The car is also expected to feature a cascading grille upfront, flared wheel arches, roof-mounted spoilers. While the top-spec variants are also expected to feature LED DRL.

Inside, the Hyundai Santro is expected to come with more upmarket features, with premium interiors. The hatchback will most likely feature a dual-tone black/beige interiors, with the seat upholstery matching the interiors.

Other features expected on the new Santro: three-spoke steering wheel, dual-pod instrument cluster with MID and a touchscreen infotainment system.

Mechanically, the new Hyundai Santro is said to be powered by a new 1.1-litre, four-cylinder engine. The power unit will come mated standard to a five-speed manual gearbox. Although, Hyundai is also expected to offer an AMT version as an option as well.

The Hyundai AH2 will replace the slow-selling Eon in the Indian market. The AH2 is a crucial car for the Korean car manufacturer in India. The company hopes that the revival of the Santro nameplate will help them attract more buyers towards the brand.

Once launched, the Hyundai AH2 will take on the likes of the Renault Kwid, Tata Tiago, along with Maruti Suzuki's Celerio and WagonR offerings.
