Range Rover P400e Plug-In Hybrid Revealed.
2017 Los Angeles Auto Show: Range Rover P400e plug-in hybrid revealed. Land Rover is increasing its electrified product lineup with the updated Range Rover, which now comes with a plug-in petrol hybrid with 31 miles (50km) of range.
Two models of the manufacturer, the Range Rover Sport and the Range Rover, will lead the company's strategy to have an electrified variant of every model on sale by 2020. The revised Range Rover also receives an updated interior to bring it into line with the Velar and the new SVAutobiography Dynamic.
The new Range Rover P400e PHEV is powered by a 296bhp 2.0-litre four-cylinder Ingenium petrol engine which combines with a 114bhp electric motor, together they churn out 398bhp. The Range Rover P400e PHEV sprints from 0-100kph in 6.8 seconds and a top speed of 220km.
The Range Rover P400e offers two driving modes: the default Parallel Hybrid and EV. The Parallel Hybrid mode combines petrol and electric drive, allowing the driver to optimise the battery charge or fuel economy.
The 13.1kWh lithium-ion battery placed beneath the boot floor reduces the overall boot space compared to the standard version. The access to the charging cable is behind the Land Rover badge on the right of the front grille.
Land Rover says the standard charge takes seven hours and 30 minutes; however, with a special home wall box, a full charge will take two hours. The complete range of petrol and diesel engines, including V6 and V8 units, sits alongside the SVAutobiography Dynamic and P400e in the line-up.
Design changes across the range include a revised front grille with piano black surround and a front bumper with an extended vent blades. At the rear, the bumper has been updated with integrated exhaust tailpipes offered across all models.
Additionally, there are six new alloy wheel designs to choose from which include: two new metallic paint colours (Rossello Red and Byron Blue) and four LED headlight options.
The most significant change inside the Range Rover P400e is the Touch Pro Duo infotainment, which features two 10-inch touchscreens on the central console. The front seats have new seat frames with broader and more profound foams and heated armrests.
Also, there are 17 connection points, including plug sockets and USB, as well as 4G wi-fi hotspots for up to eight devices.
