The orange colour of the superhard means that the regular hard compound now gets ice-blue painted sidewalls.

Speaking about the new tyre range, Pirelli racing manager Mario Isola said, "The tyres we have created for 2018 addresses this, in line with the objective of having around two pitstops at most races. However, the fundamental design concept of the tyres hasn't changed next year, preserving the attributes that all drivers have appreciated this year and allowing them to push hard from the start to the finish of each stint."

The all-new Pirelli tyre range for Formula One is softer on the whole as the Italian tyre manufacturer looks to make F1 more interesting with more pit stops. If the new compounds will work as Pirelli wants them to will only be seen when the teams put them to the test after the final race of the season tomorrow at Abu Dhabi's Yas Marina circuit.
