Peugeot 3008 To Rival Hyundai Creta And Renault Duster In India
Peugeot's 3008 SUV will rival the likes of Hyundai Creta and Renault Duster in India.
French automaker Peugeot has already announced its India entry by 2020. PSA Group, the parent company of the carmaker, has partnered with CK Birla Group to operate in the country.
As per the agreement, Hindustan Motor Finance Corporation Limited, a subsidiary of CK Birla Group will handle the sales and distribution of Peugeot vehicles in India.
AVTEC Limited will be responsible for the powertrains of Peugeot cars, which is another subsidiary of CK Birla Group. Localisation of components will help Peugeot to price their products competitively in the country.
Peugeot has already commenced testing its products in the country. Overdrive reports that the first offering from the automaker is likely to be an SUV, the 3008. By looking at the images, the SUV looks premium and big at the same time.

The front end of the 3008 features uniquely designed headlights, LED daytime running lights, chrome inserts on the grille and large air dam. The newly introduced GT Line and GT variants sport dual chrome exhaust pipes, dual-tone colour scheme and 19-inch alloy wheels.
The interior is the highlight of the 3008. It features Peugeot's i-Cockpit design theme with 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
Talking about the features, the Peugeot 3008 is equipped with front and rear parking sensors, six airbags, panoramic sunroof, heated front seats and electrically operated tailgate offered as an option.
The 3008 SUV draws power from a 1.2-litre petrol and 1.6-litre diesel engine producing 130bhp and 97bhp to 118bhp respectively. The GT Line gets a BlueHDi diesel engine, whereas the GT variant also gets the 2.0-litre BlueHDi 180 S&S engine mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission.
Peugeot could skip some of the features of the international-spec 3008 to keep the price in check in the Indian market. Due to the localisation, Peugeot 3008 is likely to be priced in the similar range as the Hyundai Creta and Renault Duster.
