The new Rolls Royce Phantom has been in development for six years and is the first Rolls built on a bespoke aluminium spaceframe architecture.

Yes, there are several expensive, opulent cars in the market, yet since its introduction by Sir Henry Royce in 1925, the Phantom continues to be the ultimate choice of travel for the world's most influential, powerful and glamorous.

The New Rolls Royce Phantom will be the first of a new generation of Rolls-Royces to benefit from the creation of the Architecture of Luxury. The main advantages of the new architecture are lightness, increased stiffness, efficient production of standard and extended wheelbase bodies and uncompromised exterior surface design.

The new Phantom is 30 percent more rigid than its previous generation, leading to better ride comfort.

Giles Taylor, Director of Design, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, says, "Phantom is the epitome of effortless style, a historical nameplate that occupies a rarefied space in the luxury constellation and conjures a rare magic all of its own. New Phantom raises a glass to an illustrious design legacy whilst forging a modern and revitalised presence for the next era of Rolls-Royce design."

The undeniable Pantheon grille has been reimagined and is at the heart of the design. It has been raised higher resulting in a positioning of the Spirit of Ecstasy approximately a half inch higher. The new headlamp graphic is frosted inside and houses a ring of daytime driving lights (DRLs) along with an advanced laser light system that emits the light of up to 600 meters ahead at night.

From the side, the new Phantom retains the 2:1 proportions, with a short front and long rear overhang, an upright front and a flowing rear.

At the rear, the design evokes the beautiful flowing rear profile of the 1950's and 60's Phantoms. The rear glass, surrounded by a crafted stainless steel frame, is more raked and the rear lines are smooth, while a subtle scallop on the rear roof line floats above the occupants for added headroom.

Rolls Royce claims the new Phantom is the most silent motor car in the world. The luxury marque has employed 6mm two-layer glazing all around the car, more than 130kg of sound insulation, the largest ever cast aluminium joints in a body-in-white for better sound insulation, and use of high absorption materials.

With the focus on creating the most silent motor car in the world, an entirely silent engine was also required, and that meant more low-end output at lower revs.
