Next-Gen Opel Corsa To Use Peugeot Technology — Report

The next-generation Opel Corsa will use the Peugeot Technology after PSA Group agreed to buy Opel from General Motors in March.

German car maker Opel will use the technology from French automaker Peugeot in the next-generation Corsa model. The Corsa has been the best-selling product for the company.

A spokesman from Opel confirmed the development following a newspaper report. Currently, the Corsa is manufactured using General Motors' technology. Now PSA Group has agreed to buy Opel from GM.

Previously, Opel stated that the next-generation Corsa will be launched by 2019 and will use General Motors technology. But now the company has reversed its decision.

Instead, Opel has decided to use the Peugeot technology which allows higher margins. Allgemeine Zeitung Mainz reported the development in its online edition.

Although, PSA which agreed to buy Opel from General Motors in March was not available for comment. The new Corsa will be the fourth project in partnership with PSA Group.

Previously, Opel had manufactured the Crossland X, Grandland X and Combo in collaboration with PSA Group. The next-gen Corsa will be built at Opel's manufacturing facility in Saragossa, Spain.
