The first electrified Maserati is expected to hit the roads in 2020. The new model will be based on the Alfieri concept which was showcased at the Geneva Motor Show in 2014. It is a two-seater sports car with an all-new platform.
Before the introduction of the electrified models, Maserati will hybridise its several models which are currently sold. The Levante SUV is expected to get a hybrid powertrain.
Marchionne stated that Maserati was reluctant to invest in electric technology due to its uncertainty. But now the company has a clear vision towards the electrification of its models.
