Mercedes-Maybach G650 Landaulet 4×4² Revealed — The Ultimate Luxury Off-Roader?
The Mercedes-Maybach G650 Landaulet 4×4² convertible SUV has been revealed and here are all the details regarding engine specs, features, and production.
A few days ago, pictures surfaced of a convertible Mercedes G-Wagon being tested, and after detailed inspection, it was revealed that the SUV being tested was in fact the Mercedes-Maybach G650 Landaulet, a luxury version of the hardcore Mercedes G 500 4×4².
The German carmaker was to unveil the luxury SUV at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show, but has instead released pictures of the SUV ahead of schedule. For starters, the Mercedes-Maybach Landaulet measures 5,345 mm long and 2,235 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 3,428 mm, making the SUV longer and taller than longer than a regular G-Class.
In terms of mechanicals, the Maybach G650 Landaulet 4×4² features portal axles with three fully-locking differentials and a low-range gearbox, helping the SUV gain a massive ground clearance of 450mm. This is complemented with 22-inch wheels wrapped in 25/55R22 tyres.
The Mercedes-Maybach G650 Landaulet 4×4² derives power from a 6.0-litre V12 biturbo engine, the same found under the hood of the AMG G65. The engine delivers 630bhp and 1000Nm of torque to all four wheels through a 7-speed AMG Speedshift automatic gearbox.
Now, coming to the luxury bit, only the rear portion of the Mercedes-Maybach G650 Landaulet 4×4² is convertible, fitted with the active multicontour rear seats from the S-Class. These seats feature power adjustment, inflatable air chambers for improved comfort, and massage function amongst others.
Other comforts passengers at the rear will enjoy are two 10-inch high-resolution displays along with a centre console, twin glove boxes, and a retractable glass portion to give you privacy from the driver's cabin.
On the exterior, the Mercedes-Maybach G650 Landaulet 4×4² comes with chrome double-louvre grille, ‘V12 Biturbo' badging, carbon fibre wheel arch flares, front and rear underride guards, and power-retractable side steps.
Now, coming to the availability — the Mercedes-Maybach G650 Landaulet 4×4² will be launched during the Geneva Motor Show, and the German carmaker will build only 99 units of the luxury SUV. If you think the Mercedes-Maybach G650 Landaulet 4×4² is out of reach, perhaps the Mercedes-AMG E63 S Estate pictured below could interest you.
