Mahindra To Benefit From Government’s Order Of 10,000 EVs
Indian automaker Mahindra is all set to gain from the government’s latest order of 10,000 electric vehicles.

The Energy Efficiency Service Ltd. (EESL), a firm under the Ministry of Power has released a tender for 10,000 electric vehicles and 4,000 chargers.
The electric vehicles will be used by various ministries and government departments as per the strategy to introduce all-electric vehicles in India by 2030. The tender reveals that Government of India is set to buy 3,000 AC chargers and 1,000 DC chargers compatible with Bharat AC-001 and DC-001 charger specification.
Mahindra is the only automaker to offer electric vehicles in India, and it is likely to bag this offer. The company has also invested Rs 600 crore in the electric vehicle business to dominate the segment.

Currently, Mahindra retail's electric vehicles such as the e2o Plus and eVerito in India. The company is also developing a new electric car in collaboration with Italian design firm Pininfarina.
Apart from that, the automaker is developing two powerful battery packs for its future products. The new electric powertrain will deliver a power output ranging from 40bhp to 201bhp.
The future electric vehicles from Mahindra will deliver a driving range of 350km on a single charge. The automaker aims to produce EV which is capable of sprinting from 0-60km/h in less than 5 seconds and a top speed of 200km/h.
In line with the government's strategy to introduce electric vehicles by 2030, Mahindra plans to expand the production capacity to 60,000 units per year by 2020. It also aims to set up a new manufacturing facility to roll out 48,000 electric vehicles a year.
