Lotus Elise Cup 250 Revealed — Hethel's Purest Four-Cylinder Sports Car Yet

British carmaker Lotus has unveiled the Elise Cup 250 which it claims is its purest four-cylinder car yet.

British carmaker Lotus has revealed the latest iteration of the flagship version of the Elise in the form of the Cup 250.

The Elise Cup 250 sits atop the range of the smallest car in the Lotus lineup is lighter than before and features more aero tweaks as well.

Lotus has made use of lightweight materials like carbon-fibre, aluminium, and titanium which have helped the Elise slash its already minuscule weight by 14 kilogrammes to just 884kgs. However, that can go down to just 860 kilogrammes by adding in the optional weight savings pack.

Lotus has also added a host of aero tweaks including a revised front splitter, new bargeboards, a new rear wing and a rear diffuser which help it generate 125 kilos of downforce at 225km/h.

The powerplant in the new lighter Lotus Elise Cup 250 remains the same. The supercharged 1.8-litre four-cylinder engine produces 243bhp and 250Nm of torque which is sent to the rear wheels by a six-speed manual gearbox.

The Lotus Elise Cup 250 sprints from 0-100km/h in just 4.3 seconds and continues to accelerate till it tops out at 248km/h.

The Lotus Elise Cup 250 is now on sale and prices in its home nation of the United Kingdom start at £47,400 (Rs 39.32 lakhs).
