New Jaguar XE R And Jaguar XF R — Not Happening, Says Head Of Design!
Jaguar XE R and Jaguar XF R not in plans for Jaguar. Here’s why the British company is not making a Jaguar XE R or a Jaguar XF R!
As hard as it seems, it is true. A Jaguar XE R or XF R isn't in the cards for the British luxury car manufacturer. This is surely going to upset all the Jag fans out there.
The Tata-owned company, previously had 'R' models for most of their models, to tackle the German performance sedan rivals, such the BMW M3 and M5, Mercedes AMG C63 and E63, or the Audi RS counterparts.
Previous Jaguar R models such as the XF R and XJ R, came with a very capable 5-litre Supercharged V8. Even though the engine would fit inside all models of the Jaguar's current lineup, the company is just not planning to do so.
Head of Design at Jaguar, Ian Callum said to Road And Track Magazine, "We work volume out proportionally, which I don't necessarily agree with. If we do an M3 version of XE, for instance, they'll take the proportion of M3 to 3 Series and work it back from there."
He also added, "But I think if we did an M3 version of XE, we'd proportionally sell more, because, we just would. I don't agree with it, but I'm not the one making those decisions,"
This doesn't mean that Jaguar won't be making performance variants of their cars ever again. Jaguar Land Rover's bespoke division, SVO (Special Vehicle Operations), would still make limited-run performance cars, such as the Jaguar XE SV Project 8, F-Type Project 7 or the Bespoke SVO Land Rover Range Rover Autobiography.
Currently, the F-Type SVR, Range Rover Sport SVR and the luxurious, yet dynamic, Range Rover SV Autobiography are the only performance SVO models under Jaguar Land Rover.

Thinks!
While
