Honda Has An Aggressive Plan For The Next Three Years In India
Honda plans to launch six cars in India in the next three years.
Honda Cars India is witnessing a steady growth in the Indian market and impressed by its performance; the Japanese carmaker has planned to launch six cars in the next six years.
The carmaker registered a 17 percent rise in sales for the period from April - October 2017, compared to the previous year. The rise in sales is attributed to strong sales of its latest models Honda City and the WR-V.
"Honda Cars India Ltd is witnessing one of the fastest growth years in sales, backed by strong performance of our latest models Honda City and WR-V..", company Senior Vice-President, Marketing and Sales, Jnaneswar Sen said.
Honda claims that India is its largest market for the company and has the potential to influence Honda's global operations in the future. Mr Sen said that it is because of India's strong sales for the company, they have an aggressive plan to launch six cars in the coming three years.
During the April - October 2017 period, Honda sold 1,05,503 units compared to 90,422 units sold during the same period of last year. Leading the offensive is its premium sedan Honda City accounting for more than 25 percent of its overall sales.
Also, the newly launched Honda WR-V has emerged as the most significant market for Asia and Oceania business region. "...since the launch of the WR-V in March this year, the company has sold more than 33,000 units...", the statement said.
Additionally, Honda has increased its sales and service network as well. The company has doubled the sales outlets in the last four years up from 234 cities to 348 cities in the country including Tier II and III cities, it added.
