Fiat Punto Fails Badly In Euro NCAP Crash Test Rating — Find Out Why
Fiat Punto Scores Zero Star Rating In Euro NCAP
Vouched by many owners as a solidly built car, the Fiat Punto failed miserably at the recent crash test by Euro NCAP safety watchdog.
The agency crash tested the hatchback and was awarded 'zero' star safety rating. The vehicle tested featured dual airbags at the front, and despite boasting this feature, the car failed miserably. You can watch the video below on how the Punto performed.
While the four-wheeler industry is developing safer and better cars, some of the manufacturers have not kept pace with the innovation and one of the reason for the failure of the Fiat Punto. Fiat has not set the bar higher regarding safety especially the Punto which Indians have preferred over other hatchbacks.
Euro NCAP Secretary General, Michiel van Ratingen, said - "The fact that older cars cannot compete illustrates the pace at which the vehicle industry is innovating safety and the willingness and ability of competitive manufacturers to meet the highest standards. Those who do not keep their cars up to the latest standards get left behind, as these results clearly show."

The current on sale in India, as well as other countries, is of 2005 manufactured model. The Punto has gone past its "best-before date" said van Ratingen. He further added that "We would urge consumers to choose cars with the most up-to-date five-star ratings, many examples of which we have seen in 2017."
DriveSpark Thinks!
The current Punto is a decade old and with stringent safety measures over the years has rendered the hatchback weak regarding safety.
Fiat has brought the Argo to replace the Punto in the South American market; however, India is yet to be considered by the company if it will replace the Punto in the market. That said, safety is a top priority in the modern era, and Fiat needs to address the issue of unsafe cars for India.
