Fiat Chrysler And Hyundai On Tech Partnership — What's Cooking?

Fiat Chrysler And Hyundai On Tech Partnership. Is this a Fiat-Hyundai merger discussion? More details.

By Irwin Mills

There is gossip that Hyundai is planning to buy Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA). And now, a technical partnership talk is underway between FCA and Hyundai.

If this buyout happens for Hyundai, this will help the South Korean manufacturer dethrone Volkswagen and Toyota as world's largest car maker. However, the current discussion is not a merger talk, FCA Chief Executive Sergio Marchionne confirmed.

In a statement, a Hyundai spokesman said there were no definite talks with FCA, but that Hyundai welcomed discussions in its mobility technology.

Hyundai is sure-footed when it comes to hydrogen fuel cell cars, and the Tucson is the world's first mass-produced fuel cell compact SUV.

What do you think this discussion is all about? And should, Hyundai, the third largest vehicle manufacturer in the world buyout Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, the world's seventh-largest auto manufacturer? Investor advise, any?
