Fiat Abarth Punto Production Begins In India – Report
Fiat India has commenced the production of the 2017 Abarth Punto in India.
Fiat India has commenced the production of the Abarth Punto hot hatch in India. TeamBHP reports that the 2017 model is now available at the dealerships.
The first batch of the 2017 Abarth Punto with 40 units have been already manufactured and dispatched to the showrooms. Fiat India halted the production of Abarth Punto in 2016 due to the 2015 models lying in the inventory.
Now, with the production of Jeep Compass, the assembly line has been upgraded. And now the plant has resumed the production of Abarth Punto. The 2017 iteration of the hot hatch is available in two colour options - Pearl White and Hip Hop Black.
The Fiat Abarth Punto draws power from a 1.4-litre T-Jet petrol engine churning out 143bhp and 212Nm of torque. In the past six months, the sales of the car was very poor.
The Fiat Abarth Punto with Pearl White colour scheme was available to the customers, but the Hip Hop Black was out of stock. Now, with the production resumed, both the colours will be available at the dealerships.
The 2017 iteration of the Abarth Punto will not feature any cosmetic changes. But it is reported that the car will get 5-inch touchscreen infotainment system with offline maps. The safety features on the car include four-wheel disc brakes, ABS, EBD and dual airbags. The hot hatch is priced at Rs 9.90 lakh ex-showroom (Delhi).
