The Bugatti Chiron Gets A Worldwide Recall — The Reason Is A Bit Concerning
Bugatti Chiron, one of the world’s fastest car, gets a recall. Find out why the $3 million Chiron got a recall.
Manufacturers, when they (or some authority) find out that a specific component of a car is malfunctioning, conduct a recall of those models. A recent example for this in India is the recalling of Maruti Suzuki Dzire.
Recalling, usually done free of cost, is not only limited to mass-production family cars, but to every genre of automobiles. Now, Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S has announced a recall of their latest model, the Chiron.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in the USA, was made aware by Bugatti that some of their Chiron models had faulty welds in the front seat recliner brackets.
According to sources, 47 examples (12 from North America) of the million-dollar hypercar have been issued a recall notice. The French hypercar maker has notified all the owners of the affected car about the issue.
To minimise the trouble, Bugatti will be sending a team to collect the car (from a location of the owner's choice) and transport it to the nearest Bugatti dealership via an enclosed truck.
If an improper weld exists in the car, the entire seating assembly will be replaced, free of charge. If not fixed and failure occurs, the driver might face an unexpected change in the seating position. This could be risky especially if the car is going at a high pace.
Powering the Bugatti Chiron is an 8-litre quad-turbo W16 engine churning out 1480bhp and 1600Nm. The car has a top speed ‘limited to' 420km/h, because no tyre can handle speeds above that, at present.
The Chiron with a 0-100km/h time of 2.4 seconds, had a world record for the fastest 0-400km/h time(32.6 seconds). This time was recently beaten by a Koenigsegg Agera RS (26.88 seconds).
