2017 Frankfurt Motor Show: Bentley Continental GT Revealed
Bentley has revealed the all-new Continental GT at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show.
British luxury carmaker Bentley has revealed the new Continental GT at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show in Germany.
In terms of design, the new Continental GT incorporates design cues from the EXP 10 Speed 6 unveiled at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. The new Continental GT is longer than before but features shorter overhangs which in turn has allowed for an extended and lowered bonnet.
The headlights feature LED Matrix lighting while the at the rear, the haunches are more sculpted while the elliptical taillights mimic the exhaust tips.

Inside, the Continental GT is awash with leather along with 107 square feet of wood. The infotainment display is part of a three-sided display unit that rotates between the touchscreen, three analogue gauges, and wood veneer.
The all-new Bentley Continental GT is powered by a revised version of its 6.0-litre W12 engine that now produces 626bhp at 6000rpm and 900Nm of torque between 1,750rpm and 4,000rpm which is sent to all four wheels via a new 8-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
The new Bentley Continental GT accelerates from 0-100kph in 3.6 seconds (0.8s quicker than the previous W12 Continental GT) and continues accelerating till it tops out at 333kph.
The engine also features variable displacement system which shuts down half the cylinders, making it much more efficient below 3,000rpm allowing the new Continental to travel 805 km on a single tank of petrol.
The new Continental GT features four driving modes: Sport, Comfort, Bentley and Custom with the Bentley mode a preset mode set by the company's engineers and is a mix of Sport and Comfort.
Then Bentley Continental GT sits on the Volkswagen Group's Porsche-developed MSB (modular standard drivetrain) platform which underpins the new Panamera. The new Continental is also 70 kgs lighter than its predecessor at 2,250kg.
The Continental also features double wishbone suspension up front and a multi-link rear axle. Also present is a three-chamber air spring system which allows the chassis to be set-up for different types of driving.
The new Continental GT also gets a torque-vectoring-by-brake system to the standard Continental, which helps reduce understeer. Also present is electric power steering which allows for a range of driver assistance features including active lane assist, park assist and traffic park assist.
