Spy Pics: Audi Q5 Spotted Testing In India
Spy shots of the new Audi Q5 testing have emerged ahead of the SUV's launch in India.
The new Audi Q5 has been spied testing in Mumbai ahead of its launch in India. The second-generation Audi Q5 was revealed at the 2016 Paris Motor Show in November.
The spy pics of the Q5 show the test mule for the new SUV driving about in Mumbai with just a few pieces of masking tape covering up the important badges on the cars.
However, the rest of the car was left totally undisguised clearly showing off Audi's various design cues including the massive grille and those sleek headlights.
The new Audi Q5 sits on a slightly shortened version Volkswagen group's MLB Evo Platform which also underpins the Q7. The new Q5 is 34mm longer, 51mm wider, 4mm taller and has a 12mm longer wheelbase than the first-generation SUV it replaces. Despite the extra size, the Q5 is 90 kilograms lighter than its predecessor.
The new Audi Q5 is expected to launch in India in the second half of 2017 in India. Powering the new Q5 in India will be the Volkswagen Group's 2.0-litre TDi diesel engine producing 187bhp.
The 2.0-litre TFSI petrol engine kicking out 249bhp is also expected enter India considering the rising popularity of petrol powered cars in the country.
Audi also revealed the SQ5 in Paris but it is still not known whether the performance version of the Q5 will make it to India.
