2018 Aston Martin Vantage Revealed — Hardcore British Aggression
British carmaker Aston Martin has revealed the 2018 Vantage sports car. The new Vantage gets an aggressive design and a V8 from AMG and will arrive in 2018.
British carmaker Aston Martin has revealed the 2018 Vantage sports car. The new Aston Martin Vantage will go into production in April 2018 at the British marque's Gaydon facility in England and customers will get the cars in the summer.
2018 Aston Martin Vantage Engine, Performance & Specifications
The new 2018 Aston Martin Vantage is powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine that is sourced from Mercedes-AMG.
Underneath the clamshell bonnet of the new Vantage, the V8 engine produces 503bhp @ 6,000rpm and 685Nm of torque from 2,000-5,000rpm. The engine is mated to an eight-speed ZF automatic gearbox that sends power to the rear wheels.
The 2018 Aston Martin Vantage sprints from 0–100kph in 3.6 and will continue accelerating till it tops out at 314kph. The Vantage features three driving modes — Sport, Sport+ and Track.
Aston Martin has also fitted the new Vantage with an electronic differential that can go from fully open to 100 percent locked in a matter of milliseconds.
To bring the new Vantage to a halt, Aston Martin has fitted the sports car with 400mm ventilated two-piece steel brake discs up front and 360mm co-cast discs at the rear.
The new Aston Martin Vantage is 4,465mm long, 1,942mm wide and 1,273mm tall. The wheelbase of the new Vantage is 2,704mm long and the car weighs in at 1,530kg (dry) and features a 50:50 weight distribution. The 2018 Aston Martin Vantage has a 73-litre fuel tank and a 350-litre boot.
2018 Aston Martin Vantage Design, Features & Safety
The 2018 Vantage from Aston Martin features a complete ground-up rethink in terms of design with the carmaker stating that each car in its lineup will feature its own distinctive design.
Up front, the new Aston Martin Vantage looks quite similar to the DB10 from the James Bond movie Spectre. The gaping new titanium grille is the lowest one seen on a production Aston Martin and looks similar to the one found on the Vulcan track day car.
Also seen up front is the massive splitter that helps with aerodynamics along with sleek LED headlights and bulges on the bonnet that adds to the aggressive look of the Vantage.
On the sides, the new Aston Martin Vantage features large side gills behind the front wheels which cut pressure in the wheel arches at speed. The 20-inch Y-spoke alloy wheels are fitted with 255/40/20 (front) and 295/35/20 (rear) Pirelli P Zero Tyres.
The rear end is where the biggest changes are present. The taillights are a single strip of LED lights that stretch across the rear end following the shape of the boot lid and rising above the Aston Martin badge.
Also seen are the small boot lip spoiler and the massive rear diffuser which houses stainless steel exhausts on either side.
Inside, the new Aston Martin Vantage is a strict two-seater and features really low-set sports seats. The interior is a mix of leather and Alcantara, though a full leather interior is available as an option. Aston Martin has retained the squircle-shaped steering wheel from the DB11 which features fixed paddle shifters.
Also retained are the Mercedes-sourced electronics and the 8.0-inch infotainment system while the centre console is awash with buttons including the glass units for the gearbox while the HVAC controls are rotary dials.
DriveSpark Thinks!
The all-new Aston Martin Vantage is the second of seven new cars that the British carmaker plans to put into production by 2023.
Its looks are inspired by a Bond car and it features an engine that is known for its thunderous response and with its aggressive and racy new nature Bond could easily consider this as an option for his next company car.
