For example, the new Dzire has rectangular AC vents whereas the 2017 Swift gets circular vents. From this, one thing is very clear that the compact sedan will get a centre console.
Other features include Dual airbags, ABS, EBD, alloy wheels, automatic climate control, keyless entry with push-button start, SmartPlay infotainment system with navigation and steering mounted controls. Both the 2017 models will be equipped with these.
The 2017 Maruti Swift and Swift Dzire are based on the same lightweight platform of the Maruti Baleno. So, the new models will be 80 kg lighter than the outgoing models.
While there are some design changes, the engines are expected to remain the same. A 1.2-litre K-Series petrol and 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine mated to 5-speed manual and automated transmissions.
Some rumours suggest that Suzuki's self-developed 1.5-litre diesel engine codenamed E15A will also serve the new Swift family.
The test mule of the 2017 Swift Dzire has already been spotted testing in the country. It was heavily camouflaged and changes to the design in the front and rear section were clearly visible.
In the compact sedan segment, Swift Dzire is the only product that Maruti Suzuki has in the country.
The Dzire is also one of the best-selling cars for the company and it is the third best-selling car according to Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) from April-September 2016.
