Spy Pics: Ssangyong Tivoli Spotted Testing
Ssangyong's compact SUV, the Tivoli has been spotted testing in India.
South Korean automaker Sssangyong's Tivoli compact SUV has spotted testing on Indian roads again with a heavy dosage of camouflage covering up the car.
The Tivoli is the first new car from Ssangyong since February 2011 when Mahindra purchased a 70 percent stake in the bankruptcy-protected South Korean carmaker for approximately $470 million (Rs 31.717 billion).
The Tivoli is 4,202mm long, 1,798mm wide and 1,590mm tall, and has a 2,600mm long wheelbase which means that it will compete with the likes of the Hyundai Creta and the Duster in the Indian market.
Powering the compact SUV from Ssangyong are two engines (petrol and diesel) both of which displace 1.6-litres The engines were developed by Mahindra especially for Ssangyong.
The petrol engine cranks out 126bhp and 160Nm of torque while the diesel powerplant cranks out 113bhp and 300Nm of torque. Both engines are available with 6-speed manual and automatic gearboxes.
The Ssangyong Tivoli features projector headlamps, LED daytime running lights and tail lamps and sits on some rather snazzy looking alloy wheels.
Inside, the Tivoli boasts of a dual tone interior and a touchscreen infotainment system, and dual-zone climate control.
The Tivoli comes loaded with safety tech like multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, and stability control.
It is still not sure whether or not the Tivoli will be sold in India, however, Mahindra did confirm to DriveSpark, that they were working on a new compact SUV that would be based on the Tivoli's platform. The new compact Mahindra SUV is expected to hit the Indian market by 2018.
