The newly launched Scania's are the result of ten year of research and development costing 1.8 billion euros. The new cabs were designed from the scratch in cooperation with its sister company Porsche Engineering, which boasts a host of drag reduction features.
Scania claims that its cabs are the most aerodynamic in the world market, with driver operated air deflectors and redesigned mirrors which in turn provide 2 percent fuel saving. UK jury member Will Shiers said that old Scanias were not so perfect but with the new trucks its all changed.
The Iveco Stralis NP and XP and Mercedes-Benz Actros were second and third respectively in this category.
