Mazda Recalls 70,000 RX-8 Sport Cars In U.S.
"The deteriorated seals may leak fuel, which in the presence of an ignition source can increase the risk of a fire."

of
its
RX-8
sports
cars
manufactured
between
2004
to
2008
in
the
United
States.
The
recall
is
to
fix
an
issue
with
fuel
pump
sealing
rings.
The fuel pump sealing rings may leak and catch fire, and that will lead to life threatening incidents. These reports were revealed by the US safety regulators on Tuesday.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said in a statement that, "The affected vehicles have fuel pump sealing rings that may deteriorate due to exposure to heat from the engine or exhaust pipe."
"The deteriorated seals may leak fuel, which in the presence of an ignition source can increase the risk of a fire."
Mazda Motor Corp said that it will notify the owners of the RX-8 and replace the fuel pump sealing ring set for free. Till now, the automaker didn't mention any accidents or injuries caused by the leakage.
