Maruti Is All Set To Launch More Hybrid Cars — What Can We Expect?
Over the next few years, Maruti is planning on bringing more products with hybrid technology. The hybridisation program is a welcome move from India's largest selling car maker, as environment issues are on a constant rise.
Hybrid vehicles are mostly powered by an internal combustion engine + electric motor. Today, Maruti is offering factory fitted CNG on the WagonR, Alto, and Eeco. In the hybrid space, the company offers mild hybrid technology on the Ertiga MPV and premium sedan Ciaz.
"As a market leader and a responsible corporate citizen, we are fully sensitive to our duty towards the environment. We were the first ones to launch mild hybrid products with reasonably good volumes. This process of hybridisation will be expanded further in the next few years," MSI Manging Director and CEO Kenichi Ayukawa said in his address to shareholders in the company's Annual Report for 2015-16.
