Is This How Le Mans 2030 Will Look Like?
Infiniti held a design competition of how a potential endurance racer could look like in the future and Tao Ni, a Chinese designer has won it.
The winner for Michelin's 'Le Mans 2030' global design competition of how a potential endurance racer from Infiniti could look in 14 years, has just been announced.
Created by Tao Ni, a Chinese designer, the futuristic Infiniti race car has been visualised not only to be faster than present car, but safer as well.
Ni's creation has the capability to race by itself during the night, leaving the driver to take control during the day. In a race like the 24-hour Le Mans, autonomous functionality would surely help reduce driver fatigue and make the race safer.
In terms of design, the concept race car has aerodynamic bodywork that covers all four wheels entirely. The bodywork includes sophisticated air tunnels that produce massive amounts of downforce.
Although it is unlikely that Infiniti will enter a factory team into LMP1 racing in the near future, the idea of autonomous racing is interesting, especially after the introduction of the Roborace series.
