Ferrari Shows Off Five Special Edition Cars As It Kick Off 70th Anniversary Celebrations

At the 2016 Paris Motor Show, Ferrari unveiled the Ferrari LaFerrari Aperta hypercar and the GTC4Lusso T four-seater supercar. The Italian carmaker also kicked off its 70th birthday celebrations at the show where it showed off five new special edition cars.

Ferrari turns 70 next year and to celebrate the Italian marque will unveil 70 special edition cars in the coming year. Only 350 car will ever be built ie: 5 examples of each special edition car.

Five of those cars made their debut at Paris, so lets take a look at them and what makes them so special.

The most powerful of the lot was a special edition F12berlinetta.

The car is nicknamed 'The Sterling' after British racing driver Sir Sterling Moss.

Both the external and internal liveries are inspired by the 250GT SWB in which Moss won the 1961 RAC TT.

The least powerful of the lot is a California T which pays homage to actor and racing driver Steve McQueen.

The brown livery and interior of the California T 'McQueen' are identical to McQueen's beautiful 250GT Berlinetta Lusso.

This rather brilliant red Ferrari 488GTB pays tribute to seven time Formula One championMichael Schumacher.

The 'Schumacher' is a nod to Michael Schumacher's 2003 F1 championship winning car, theFerrari F2003-GA.

Among the five cars unveiled, the most subtle one is the 488 Spider seen above.

The car is simply nicknamed the Spider.

The reason 'The Spider' doesn't have a sports personality inspired name is not known and Ferrari hasn't released any details yet regarding the same.

The wackiest of the lot unveiled in Paris is this bonkers green 488 GTB with gold wheels.

The electric green car with gold wheels and red and black seats is called the Green Jewel and it apes the 365s raced by David Piper in the mid-Sixties
