Hyundai i20 To Get A Facelift Soon
Hyundai had a good run with the i20 so far; however, the Korean company has decided to give its hatchback a makeover. The Indian market is evolving and customers want more for their money than ever.
The i20 facelifted variant has been spied frequently near Hyundai's manufacturing plant in Chennai. The hatchback is being tested on a regular basis, which could mean one thing, the launch is round the corner.
The Korean car maker will provide the facelifted i20 with a petrol 1.2 litre Kappa2 engine, which will generate 83 PS of power.
A diesel option will be available too with a 1.4 litre engine producing 90 PS power. The facelifted i20 will be offered in both petrol as well as diesel.
The new engines are supposed to either have a five or six speed gearbox. Hyundai have not ruled out an optional automatic four speed transmission, which will be available only in petrol option.
The update will also include a longer wheelbase than the current i20. This in turn will increase more legroom within the cabin, thus making it more comfortable and roomy inside.
With any facelift expect the i20 too to get a revised front grille and body kit. It could also get a spoiler in the rear to add a sporty touch to the hatchback.
The new i20 is expected to be priced more than the current generation. Hyundai plans to launch this car by the end of 2014 and commence deliveries by early 2015.
