Maruti Suzuki DZire Diesel Delivers 45.8 kmpl?
Maruti Suzuki held the 'Dzirable Mileage Rally' in 31 cities across the country over the weekend in which over 62 Dzire owners participated. As the name clearly says, the purpose of the event was to demonstrate the Dzire's ‘incredible' mileage. Participants were provided with maps and were asked to follow a predefined route in and around cities.
But we do already know how much the Maruti Suzuki DZire delivers? According to ARAI certification the Swift Dzire petrol is capable of 19.1 kmpl and Swift Dzire diesel can manage 23.4 kmpl. At the end of the mileage rally, however, Maruti came out with outrageous mileage figures.
A certain Gurdeep Singh, who drove the DZire diesel achieved a mileage of 45.8 kmpl and Shrirang Chindarkar, who drove the DZire petrol managed a fuel economy figure of 42.1 kmpl. These mileage figures, according to Maruti officials, were achieved by following the regular driving techniques such as accelerating and braking gradually, maintaining a steady speed of 50 km/h, use of proper gears and so on. But it still does not explain how anyone could have nearly doubled the DZire's mileage.
Jatin Malhotra, from Jaipur who was part of the 'Dzirable Mileage Rally' had to say this "I could not believe when the engineer told me that my car delivered 38 kmpl. When I asked to explain how did they manage to get to this figure, they (Maruti) were not able to explain. None of the 50 of us were able to understand how did Maruti come to a mileage figure like that. All they asked us to do was to cover a distance of 70 kms with a checkpoint at every 10 kms. Once we were back, these figures were revealed."
Now we leave it to you to decide whether or not you want to believe Maruti Suzuki's claim. Numbers don't lie they say, but we have difficulty swallowing these numbers.
