The Mahindra Scorpio is one of the best-selling SUVs in the brand’s lineup in the Indian market. The Scorpio has been on sale for quite a long time and has received multiple updates and changes over the years.
The last major update came in 2014, when the company offered significant changes to its design. The Mahindra Scorpio now comes with a host of new features and equipment. This includes a large front grille, more upright than before. It is flanked on either side by large headlamps with projector units and LED DRLs. The front bumper also has been updated and now features fog lamps at either end and a central air intake as well. The bonnet has now been made flatter and wider and features muscular lines.
The side profile also carries forward the muscular theme of the SUV, with flared wheel arches housing the 17-inch alloy wheels. There are also plenty of supporting lines and creases, adding to the bulky and muscular nature of the SUV.
The rear profile of the Mahindra Scorpio comes with unique LED taillights, which are instantly recognisable. There is also a small spoiler integrated with the roof, adding to the character at the rear.
Inside, the current generation SUV feels more premium and upmarket, compared to the utilitarian nature on the previous model. The SUV comes with a host of equipment and features as well, adding to the sense of premiumness in the cabin.
The Mahindra Scorpio was recently updated to comply with the latest BS6 emission norms in the Indian market. The SUV comes powered by an updated 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine. It produces 140bhp at 3750rpm and 320Nm of torque at 1500rpm and is mated to a standard six-speed manual gearbox.
Mahindra just recently updated the Scorpio to comply with the BS6 emission norms and hence hasn’t released its claimed mileage figures. However, the previous BS4 model did claim a fuel efficiency figure of around 15.6km/l. We can expect the new BS6 Mahindra Scorpio to also return a fuel economy in the same range as well.
The updated Mahindra Scorpio comes with a host of features and equipment. Some of the key features include: projector headlamps, LED DRLs, LED taillights, multi-spoke steering wheel with controls for audio, height-adjustable driver seat, automatic climate control, cruise control, electrically-foldable ORVMs, follow-me-home headlamps, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, puddle lamps and more.
