The Hyundai Venue is the latest entrant to the sub-4 metre compact-SUV. The Venue follows Hyundai`s latest design language, which includes the signature hexagonal grille up front. The Venue also features dual-headlamp clusters, with the sleek light strip on top for the turn indicators and the main headlamp cluster with the integrated LED DRLs at the bottom.
The Hyundai Venue also comes with a stylish front bumper which houses the central air intakes and the fog lamps on either ends; both of them surrounded by silver accents. The front bumper also houses the silver skid plates below the air intake.
Moving to the side, Hyundai has kept the design of the Venue clean, with subtle character and shoulder lines. It also comes with flared wheel arches covering the 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, which add to the sporty and muscular character on the side. The rear profile of the Hyundai Venue features sleek squarish LED tail lights and the Venue badging on the centre of the boot lid. The rear bumper houses the reflectors on either side, with the silver skid plate at the centre.
Inside, the Hyundai Venue receives a blacked-out cabin. The dashboard does however feature silver accents surrounding the central console, the AC vents and also the steering wheel. These silver accents make the interiors of the Venue feel a bit more premium. The central console also houses the large eight-inch touchscreen infotainment HD display.
The Hyundai Venue is powered by three engine options. This includes a base 1.2-litre petrol engine borrowed from the Elite i20 premium hatchback. It produces 83bhp and 115Nm of torque and comes mated to a five-speed manual gearbox.
The second petrol engine comes in the form of a new 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbocharged unit. It produces an impressive 120bhp and 170Nm of torque and is mated to a standard six-speed manual transmission, with the optional seven-speed dual-clutch automatic as well.
The third engine comes in the form of a lone diesel option. This includes a 1.4-litre unit borrowed from the Creta SUV. It produces the same 89bhp and 220Nm of torque and also comes mated to the same six-speed manual gearbox.
According to Hyundai, the Venue claims to return fuel efficiency figures of 18.27km/l for the 1.0-litre turbo petrol manual and 18.15km/l for the turbo petrol automatic variant. The 1.2-litre petrol claims a mileage figure of 17.52km/l and the 1.4-litre diesel has the best figures of 23.70km/l fuel efficiency.
The Venue compact-SUV comes packed with a host of features, in typical Hyundai fashion. This includes a number of segment-first and best-in-class equipment. Some of these features include Cruise control, wireless phone charging, electrically foldable and adjustable ORVMs, 8-inch touch screen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity through Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. However, the most important feature on the Hyundai Venue is the Blue Link Connectivity solutions which offers 33 other features (10 of which are specifically for the Indian market) including geo fencing, car tracking and emergency assistance among others.
Safety features on the Hyundai Venue: six airbags, Hill-Assist Control, Vehicle Stability Management, Electronic Stability Control, reverse parking camera with digital guidelines, impact sensing auto door unlock, speed-sensing auto door lock, headlamp escort function, central locking and ABS with EBD to name a few.
The Hyundai Venue is an impressive sub-4 metre compact-SUV in the Indian market. It offers all the bells and whistle, while also offering strong performing engines, making it an all-round complete package, with the 7-speed DCT being the icing on the cake.
The Hyundai Venue rivals the likes of the Maruti Vitara Brezza, Mahindra XUV300, Ford EcoSport and the Tata Nexon.
The 1.0-litre turbo-petrol automatic producing 120bhp, with a claimed mileage of 18.15km/l is the best engine option on the Hyundai Venue.
The Hyundai Venue is available in four variants: E, S, SX and SX(O).
