Hyundai launched the facelift model of its most-popular SUV, the Creta in February 2020. The new Hyundai Creta comes with a completely refreshed design, host of new and added features and plenty of other equipment as well.
Starting with the front, the Hyundai Creta comes with the brand’s latest design language with the large cascading grille. Flanking either side of the grille are a new pair of LED headlamp units. The LED DRLs on the new Creta surround the headlamps in a C-shaped format. The front bumper has also been re-designed and features the central air intake, with the fog lamps at either end.
The side and rear profiles also carry forward the new design updates. The side profile comes with a fresh design, especially to its C-pillar. Hyundai has also redesigned the alloy wheels on the new Creta, which looks more stylish than before.
The rear profile comes with C-shaped taillights, similar to the SUV’s headlamp units. The new Hyundai Creta also comes with a roof-mounted spoiler with integrated brake lights as well. Hyundai has also completely re-designed the boot-lid of the new Creta while the rear bumper also comes with major updates.
The re-styling is not limited to the exteriors alone, the new Hyundai Creta also comes with major updates and changes on the inside as well. The interiors of the new Creta features a host of new updates and added features, making it more premium compared to the old model.
The new Hyundai Creta now comes with a completely new set of BS6 engine options as well. Hyundai has discontinued its old 1.6-litre and 1.4-litre petrol and diesel offerings. The Creta now borrows its powertrain from its cousin, the Kia Seltos.
The new Hyundai Creta features the same set of 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engine options, along with the 1.4-litre turbo-petrol as well. All three engines even produce the same power outputs as well. The 1.5-litre petrol produces 115bhp and 144Nm of torque while he 1.5-litre diesel churns out 115bhp and 250Nm of peak torque.
Both engines are mated to a standard six-speed manual gearbox. The petrol and diesel engines also receive an optional automatic transmission unit as well. The third 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine, on the other hand, produces 140bhp and 242Nm of peak torque. It comes mated to a dual-clutch automatic as standard, without the option of a manual transmission.
The new Hyundai Creta comes with improved mileage figures from its new BS6-compliant engines. Hyundai claims that the SUV offers fuel economy figures between 15km/l to 21km/l, depending on the fuel-type and transmission options chosen. However, actual fuel efficiency figures also vary on a number of different external factors as well.
Hyundai is known to offer its products with a host of features, including a number of segment-first and best-in-class equipment. Some of the key features on the new Hyundai Creta: LED headlamps, LED DRLs, LED tail lamps, LED cornering lamps, keyless entry, smart panoramic sunroof, push button start/stop, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Hyundai’s Blue Link connected technology, fully-automatic climate control, Bose premium sound system, wireless charging, ventilated seats, electrically-adjustable and foldable ORVMs and much more.
Safety features on the new Hyundai Creta: multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, hill-start assist control, traction control, parking assist with rear view sensors/camera, seatbelt pretensioners, impact-sensing auto door unlock, lane-change indicator; among a host of others.
The Hyundai Creta is among the most popular SUVs in the Indian market. The SUV attracts large volume sales month-on-month, due to its feature-packed cabin and strong performing engines.
The Hyundai Creta is offered in a range of five variants: E, EX, S, SX and SX(O).
The new Hyundai Creta is offered with a choice of seven paint schemes: Titan Grey, Typhoon Silver, Phantom Black, Polar White, Galaxy Blue, Lava Orange & Red Mulberry.
The new Hyundai Creta rivals the likes of the Kia Seltos, MG Hector, Tata Harrier, Jeep Compass and the Volkswagen T-Roc.
The top-spec Hyundai Creta with the 1.4-litre turbo-petrol would be the best option.
Both are extremely good products and offer a host of features and equipment. However, with the Creta having just been launched, it is difficult to give a final verdict at this time.
