The BYD Atto 3's design is based on the Chinese EV maker's Dragon Face 3.0 design language. The front end features angular crystal combination headlights with blue highlights. Joining these together is a thick slab of chrome that sports the BYD name embossed into it. Lower down on the front bumper is what appear to be air intakes to help keep the electric drivetrain cool. The BYD Atto 3 rides on 18-inch alloy wheels that help the electric cut through the air more easily and the electric SUV also features a unique scale-like design for the C-Pillar. The Atto 3 also sports some rather shiny roof rails along with a lightbar-style taillight. Other highlights include an integrated roof spoiler and a faux bash plate finished in grey. Step inside the new Atto 3 and you'll find yourself finding new details everywhere you look. The Atto 3's interiors are wild with a multi-layered dashboard that plays host to dumbbell-style air vents and a large 12.8-inch infotainment display that can rotate 90 degrees at the press of a button. Other wacky features include the grip-style door handle, the bass guitar strings on the door pocket and the aircraft-style gear lever. Despite its quirks, the Atto 3's cabin is a good place to be in with plush upholstery keeping you comfortable. However, the rear seats could do with a bit more under-thigh support. The large panoramic sunroof gives the cabin a very airy feel though the sloping roofline can be a pain for taller passengers.

The BYD Atto 3 is powered by a single electric motor that drives the front wheels. The BYD Atto 3's electric motor produces 150kW (201bhp) and 310Nm of peak torque. BYD claims that the Atto 3 can sprint from 0-100km/h in just 7.3 seconds. The Atto 3 draws power from a 60.48kWh LFP battery pack which uses BYD's Blade technology. This tech means that the battery pack requires less cooling while allowing carmakers to stuff more cells into the battery pack.

 The BYD Atto 3 has a range of 521km on a single charge as per ARAI testing and the Blade charges back up quite quickly as well. When connected to an 80kW fast charger, the BYD Atto 3's Blade battery pack can charge up from 0-80 per cent in 50 minutes. We expect the BYD Atto 3 to deliver over 400 kilometres of range on a single charge in the real world.

The BYD Atto 3 comes packed with safety tech including 7 airbags, a 360-degree camera along with ADAS functions like automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, and lane-keep assist among others.

The BYD Atto 3 offers a very interesting design both inside and out along with a big range from a unique battery pack that should ensure that any range anxiety will become a thing of the past.
