BMW launched the G 310 GS alongside the G 310 R. While the BMW G 310 R is the brand’s entry-level streetfighter offering, the G 310 GS is the brand’s most affordable adventure-tourer model.
The BMW G 310 GS carries forward a design language similar to its larger litre-class sibling, making it an extremely stylish and attractive offering. Starting from the front, the new BMW G 310 GS comes with LED headlamps with integrated LED DRLs flanked on either side by LED turn signal indicators. There is also the signature beak fender at the front, along with the inverted gold forks and a small visor, finishing off the styling. The side and rear profiles are characterised by the new body graphics on the G 310 GS, along with the side body panels, stylish 17-inch alloy wheels, the silver finished grab rails and the chrome covers for the exhaust. The rear profile on the other hand is characterised mainly by the LED tail lights and the turn indicators. The new BS6-compliant BMW G 310 GS now features a couple of new paint schemes as well. This includes the ‘Rallye Style’ and the ‘40 Years GS’ edition, along with the standard Polar White also on offer.
The BMW G 310 GS carries forward the same 312cc single-cylinder water-cooled engine as its street fighter sibling. The engine also produces the same power and torque figures of 34bhp and 28Nm, paired with a six-speed gearbox.
BMW Motorrad India claims that the new G 310 GS offers a fuel efficiency figure of 30km/l. This combined with its 11-litre fuel capacity allows the motorcycle to have a decent range of roughly 330km on a single tank. However, actual mileage figures could vary, depending on a number of external factors.
The BMW G 310 GS carries forward the same features as its streetfighter sibling, the G 310 R. This includes the LED headlamps, LED DRLs, LED indicators, LED tail lights, digital instrument cluster, ride-by-wire, dual-channel ABS and many more.In addition to this, the BMW G 310 GS also features long travel suspension (180mm) at both front and rear. Braking is through the same 300mm and 240mm discs at the front and rear. respectively.
The BMW G 310 GS is an extremely attractive adventure-tourer in the segment. However, given its high pricing and other features, or lack thereof it still misses out on offering the kind of off-roading experience as some of its rivals in the same segment. However, the motorcycle is extremely comfortable and capable for long-distance touring.
The BMW G 310 GS rivals the likes of the Royal Enfield Himalayan and the KTM 390 Adventure.
The BMW G 310 GS is offered in Polar White, Rallye Style and ‘40 Years of GS’ edition (Black & Yellow) paint schemes
The Royal Enfield Himalayan is a more capable off-roader and overall better value-for-money compared to the BMW G 310 GS.
No, the BS6-compliant engine on the BMW G 310 GS offers the same power and torque figures as compared to the older BS4 model.
The BMW G 310 GS comes with a seat height of 835mm.
