2016 Paris Motor Show: Striking Renault Trezor Concept Vows The Crowds
French carmaker Renault has unveiled the striking Trezor concept electric car at the 2016 Paris Motor Show.
The new concept car previews Renault's new design language which will be seen its new cars from 2018 onwards.
The sleek new Renault coupe is called 'Trezor', which is the french word for treasure.
The Trezor is the latest creation of Renault's design boss Laurens van den Acker, who was also responsible for the Dezir Concept from 2010, which has been the basis for Renault's current design language.
The Trezor is 4,700mm long but sits extremely low to the ground and the roofline is just 1080mm above the ground.
Powering the Trezor is powered by an electric motor derived from the one found on the Renault e.dams Formula E car. The motor produces 345bhp and 380Nm of torque.
All that power combine with the car's low kerb weight of 1,600 kilograms enables the Trezor to sprint from 0-100km/h in under 4 seconds.
The low weight is due to the mostly carbon-fibre construction, A central carbon-fibre-spine connects to steel frames front and rear which carry the independent suspension.
Design wise, the Trezor features C-Shaped headlamps up front that flank a slim grille. On the sides of the headlamps are large air intakes which cool the brakes of the car.
The extremely long bonnet blends into a slim windscreen which wraps around the sides of the cars. The roof opens up on a single hinge allowing the the occupants to enter and exit the Trezor. The Trezor sit on 20-inch wheels up front and 21-inch wheels at the rear.
The rear end curves into a big Renault badge with the sleek tail lamps following the curve.
Inside, the Trezor features multiple displays including multiples ones on the steering wheel.
In autonomous mode, the steering wheel widens to give the better visual access to main screens, which can be used to watch a movie or play a game.
The dashboard of the Trezor is made from laminated wood which is made with the help of French bicycle frame maker Keim Cycles.
