EICMA 2017: KTM 790 Duke Revealed
EICMA 2017: KTM 790 Duke Revealed. The new KTM 790 Duke is the first motorcycle powered by the LC8C parallel twin engine.
Austrian motorcycle manufacturer KTM has revealed the all-new 790 Duke at the 2017 EICMA motorcycle show in Milan, Italy. The KTM 790 Duke was first revealed in prototype form at the same show last year.
The all-new KTM 790 Duke is the first motorcycle to be powered by the Austrian bikemaker's new LC8C engine. The 799cc parallel twin engine produces 103.5bhp @ 9,000rpm and 86Nm of torque @ 8,000rpm. The engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox.
The new KTM 790 Duke's engine has 88mm bore and a 65.7mm stroke and features double overhead camshafts. The bike has a dry weight of 169kgs and has a 14-litre fuel tank.
The KTM 790 Duke features a Chromium Molybdenum-steel alloy truss frame which also supports the engine. Suspension duties are handled by upside down 43mm WP forks up front and a single rear WP mono shock at the back.
To bring the 790 Duke to a halt, KTM has fitted the new motorcycle with dual 300mm brakes which use four-piston callipers up front and a single 240mm disc with two-piston callipers at the rear. The 17-inch alloy wheels are fitted with 120/70 ZR 17 (front) and 180/55 ZR 17 (rear) tyres.

KTM has also given the Duke 790 the latest in tech including Bosch ABS system with cornering ABS and Supermoto mode. The Duke 790 also gets four riding modes including a track mode.
DriveSpark Thinks!
The all-new KTM 790 Duke looks to race off from where its manic predecessor the 690 Duke left off. With its all-new 799cc parallel-twin engine providing over a 100bhp to a bike weighing just 169 kilos (dry), KTM's all-new scalpel looks more than ready to surgically cut off its Japanese rivals.
