Honda has unveiled the new retro-style naked motorcycle, the CB1000R at the 2017 EICMA motorcycle show in Milan, Italy. Honda has also revealed the smaller CB300R and CB125R which completes the whole family of the retro-design motorcycle.

The Honda CB1000R is based on the Neo Sports Cafe Racer concept model recently revealed at the Tokyo Motor Show. The motorcycle shares its engine architecture with the CBR1000RR Fireblade.

The new Honda CB1000R looks elegant with its stripped-down, minimalistic design and retro styling cues. Honda has created the motorcycle with the right mix of modern technology and traditional styling which could be a success given the popularity of retro design. The round LED headlamp adds to the classic look of the motorcycle.

The CB1000R draws power from a 998cc in-line four-cylinder engine producing 143.5bhp and 104Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The engine also features forged pistons as opposed to the cast on the Fireblade SP.

The gearing ratios are four percent shorter and have been tuned for strong mid-range. The power-to-weight-ratio has improved by 20 percent, thanks to the reduced kerb weight which stands at 212kg, 12kg lighter than the previous model.

The motorcycle is based on the new lightweight mono-backbone steel frame. The CB1000R is equipped with a slipper clutch which reduces back-torque on downshifts, ride-by-wire throttle and three riding modes and a customisable mode.

The CB1000R features Showa upside down front forks and Showa monoshock suspension setup at the rear. The new braking system employs twin 310mm discs with radially-mounted calipers at the front, while the rear features a 256mm disc. ABS is offered as standard.

Honda will also offer the top-spec CB1000R+ which features quickshifter, heated grips, as well as a range of refined components with metallic finishes such as the windshield, front fender, small rear wheel fender and radiator grille.
