The top-of-the-range ZDi diesel trim of the new 2018 Swift is expected to carry a price tag of Rs 7.99 lakh ex-showroom (Delhi). The report suggests that Maruti Suzuki is not expected to offer alternative fuel variants such as CNG or LPG. The prices of the third-gen Swift suggest that the hatchback will be slotted below the Baleno and new Dzire.

Maruti Suzuki Swift will compete with the likes of Hyundai Grand i10 and Ford Figo, but the price point of the Swift will be bit high as compared to the Grand i10. The third-gen Swift will be identical in dimension as compared to the outgoing model but expected to offer more cabin space owing to the new platform.

The new 2018 Swift will be based on the HEARTECT platform which also underpins the Baleno and new Dzire. The new platform is made of high tensile steel which is stronger and lighter compared to the old chassis. This will improve the driving dynamics of the car.

The third-gen Swift will feature the same 1.2-litre petrol and 1.3-litre turbocharged diesel engine. The petrol unit produces 82bhp and 112Nm of torque, whereas the oil burner churns out 74bhp and 190Nm of torque. But the engine will be more refined and deliver better fuel efficiency due to the lighter platform.

Transmission options include a 5-speed manual gearbox standard on both the petrol and diesel engine. Maruti Suzuki will also offer Auto Gear Shift (AGS). On the safety front, the new Swift will come with ABS and front airbag standard across all the variants.

DriveSpark Thinks!

The new 2018 Swift will be a massive leap from the currently sold model regarding design, features and platform. The 2018 iteration of the hatchback will feature a revamped front end with premium design elements. Although the engines remain the same, the new Swift is expected to come with a host of new features. We expect Maruti Suzuki to launch the 2018 Swift at the Auto Expo in February.
