Range Rover Velar Launched In India; Prices Start At Rs 78.83 Lakh

The Velar is the fourth model in the Range Rover family and is positioned between the Range Rover Evoque and the Sport. The new Range Rover Velar is available with three powertrain options: 2.0-litre diesel and 2.0-litre petrol and 3.0-litre diesel.

The Velar sports an almost coupe-like roofline with a wide stance, while the SUV continues to get the Range Rover design language.

Under the hood, as mentioned above, the Range Rover Velar comes with three engine options: two diesel and one petrol. The 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel unit develops 177bhp, while the 3.0-litre V6 churns out 296bhp. The 2.0-litre petrol engine produces 247bhp.

The Range Rover Velar is also available in the R-Dynamic, and the First Edition versions and the all three engines are available in S, SE and the HSE variants.

Inside, the SUV features a new design philosophy for the interior such as the two large centrally mounted touchscreens, one for the infotainment system and the other for functions like the climate control.

Also, the Velar gets the option of standard leather interior or the microfiber interior package. The SUV will lock horns with the likes of Audi Q7, BMW X5, Mercedes-Benz GLE and the Volvo XC90. The Velar will also rival some its siblings such as the Land Rover Discovery, Jaguar F-Pace and even the Porsche Cayenne.
