Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy Says Electric Vehicles Are The Future
Ramalinga Reddy, the Transport Minister in a recent Electric Vehicle (EV) rally to celebrate World Environment Day said that EVs are future of road transport.
An EV rally, exhibition, and a workshop was conducted by the Society of Manufacturers of Electric Vehicles (SMEV) in association with Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) and The Department of Heavy Industries (DHI) in Bangalore and the event was flagged off by Ramalinga Reddy.
The event saw a gathering of a wide variety of electric vehicles, both two and three-wheelers. The participants gathered at BMTC Central offices and rode around key locations in Bangalore, covering a distance of 15km. Participants spread the message of 'Green Bangalore' for almost an hour before returning to their venue.
A wide display of electric vehicles were also displayed at the venue.
Commenting on the occasion, Minister Reddy said "Events like these need to be promoted and supported. Electric Vehicles are most economical, energy efficient and eco friendly mode of transportation. We need to focus on developing this technology so that it can reach the masses."
"The Government of Karnataka is supporting the use of electric vehicles. We have waived off road taxes on all electric vehicles and will continue to support this cause. We invite you all to support us in this initiative of making Bengaluru and Karnataka a greener and better place to live."
