TVS Star City+ Launched; Price Rs 44,000
TVS Star City+, the company's new commuter motorcycle that was previewed at the Auto Expo in February, has been launched at an event in Chennai. The new Star City+ will be placed above the regular Star City and sports several features updates over it, both visual and mechanical.
TVS Star City+ engine
The engine, dubbed "EcoThrust", is the same 109.7cc unit that powers the regular Star City, as well as the Jupiter and Wego scooters. However, it has been modified to extract performance and improve fuel economy.

The new engine delivers 8.3 horsepower at 5000 rpm and 8.7 Nm torque at 5000 rpm. In comparison, the regular Star City outputs 8.18 horsepower and 8.1 Nm torque. The engine has also been tuned to provide more low end torque for better pulling power at low speeds.
The engine is mated to a 4-speed gearbox that gives its an acceleration of 0-60 km/h in 8 seconds and a top speed of 90 km/h.
TVS Star City+ mileage
The company claims the new EcoThrust will deliver, under standard conditions, a fuel economy of 85 kpl. That's an improvement of a little over 1 kpl over the regular Star City.
TVS Star City+ brakes & suspension
Though disc brakes are not an option, the motorcycle is equipped with 130mm drum brakes at the front and 110mm at the rear.
Telescopic forks do duty at the front, while 5-step adjustable shock absorbers have been provided at the rear.

The new motorcycle has also been given a makeover to set it apart from the regular Star City.
These changes come in the form of an analogue/digital instrument cluster with service indicator, clear lens indicator, number plate illuminator, coloured shock absorber springs, chrome handle bars, stainless steel muffler guard with the "EcoThrust" badging.
The alloy wheels wear Dura Life tyres which are said to provide 12 percent more grip and last 20 percent longer. The motorcycle also wears new styling stickers on the tank for a sporty look.
TVS Star City+ Price
TVS Star City+ has been priced at Rs 44,000 in Delhi (ex-showroom). The new motorcycle will replace the old Star City. As far as variants are concerned, at present there seems to be only a single one, the one with alloy wheels and drum brakes, with electric start.
