Piaggio Set To Launch Typhoon 150 In India
Piaggio which launched the Vespa LX 125 premium lifestyle scooter is planning to launch another scooter under its own brand name. We had earlier reported about the possibility of the Piaggio Fly making its way in to India. But Piaggio has decided to create a storm of sorts in the scooter market by launching a scooter named Typhoon.
While the Vespa brand of classic scooters is aimed at the common car buyers, Piaggio is looking at building a macho brand image for itself. It will start this operation by launching the Typhoon 150cc scooter. The Typhoon will be India's first 150cc scooter and its main prospective buyers will be men.
The Typhoon has already been launched in the International market powered by a 125cc scooter. But Piaggio is said to have decided not to go with the 125cc engine as it would clash with the Vespa LX 125. Instead it has decided to make use of the 150cc engine powering the Piaggio Fly.

The Piaggio Typhoon will be India's first scooter to be powered by a MPFI (multi point fuel injection) engine.
Powerful New Scooter
The Piaggio Typhoon's 150cc engine can deliver a peak power of 11.4bhp making it the most powerful scooter in the market.

The powerful engine of the Typhoon will mean mileage will not be a high figure. Piaggio has claimed a fuel economy of 32kmpl. The on road mileage should be around the 25kmpl mark.

The Piaggio Typhoon has a large under seat storage space.
Powerful New Scooter
Matching its powerful image, the Piaggio Typhoon can hit a top speed of 100kmph. As a safety enhancement, Piaggio has fitted disk brakes on the front and has retained drum brakes in the rear.
Powerful New Scooter
The Piaggio Typhoon is equipped with a seven litre fuel tank. Considering its mileage is between 25 and 30kmpl, the Typhoon has an effective range of about 200 kilometres.
