Kawasaki Z250 India Launch Nears As Bike Goes Under Homologation
Kawasaki has brought its most affordable product, the Z250 naked street bike, to India for homologation process at ARAI in Pune, ZigWheels has learnt. The Z250 should be ready for launch before the end of the year once testing is finished.
Kawasaki Z250 is influenced by the styling of the Z800 (launched earlier this year) and is placed below the Ninja 300. The bike carries the aggressive and bulky styling of the Z800 and shares components with the Ninja 300.

For instance, the diamond type steel frame, the exhaust, alloy wheels, instrument cluster, a few body panels such as the tail and tank sections, are all borrowed from the Ninja 300. This would reduce production costs for Kawasaki.
Power for the Z250 comes from the 249cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine. It produces 32 horsepower at 11,000 rpm and torque of 21 Nm at 9,000 rpm. The engine is connected to a 6-speed transmission.
The front telescopic fork suspensions measure 37mm, while a monoshock does duty at the rear. Braking is provided by a single 290mm petal disc at the front and 220mm petal disc at the rear.
The unfortunate thing though, is ABS is not available on the Z250, even as an optional upgrade.
Kawasaki Z250 is expected to priced below INR 3 lakh and would be a direct competitor to the other twin-cylinder 250cc naked bike, the Suzuki Inazuma.
