Honda Could Launch Lead 125cc Scooter In Indian Market
Japanese two-wheeler giant has witnessed tremendous success in India with its scooters. Now Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India could launch an all new more premium scooter.
Honda plans on introducing its Lead scooter in India, which is currently on offer in Vietnam and Japan. It will not be introduced as an Activa and will be portrayed as a new scooter.
The Lead 125 has already been brought to India for research and development purposes. Honda will also test it on our road conditions and will see if it is acceptable in the Indian market.
Here are the engine specifications for Honda's Lead 125 scooter:
- Engine: 125cc, single cylinder, liquid cooled.
- Horsepower: 11.33
- Torque: 11.6Nm
- Transmission: Stepless, automatic control
The Lead 125 will sport more features than its Activa sibling offered in India. In terms of styling the Lead scooter looks similar to current Activa scooters, however, it gets more chrome embellishment.
Honda's Lead when launched will be set up against Piaggio Vespa. Pricing will be premium and expect it to be approximately INR 70,000 to INR 75,000 ex-showroom.
We would like to know from our readers if a scooter like Honda's Lead will work in India? In our opinion we would prefer if this scooter would not look anything like their Activa, as there are already too many of them on road.
