2017 Yamaha R15 V3.0 Unveiled By Rossi And Vinales; Images & Details
The R15 V3.0 was revealed to the public by Movistar Yamaha MotoGP riders Valentino Rossi and Maverick Vinales.
Yamaha revolutionised the biking culture in India when it launched the entry-level sportbike R15 back in 2008. Since then, the Yamaha motorcycle became one of the favourite pocket rocket for the youth in India. The motorcycle got some updates in 2011, which made it look more sportier and track-focused.
Finally in 2017, as we expected, Yamaha unveiled the R15 V3.0 in Indonesia. The model will hit the Indian market later this year. The R15 V3.0 was revealed to the public by Movistar Yamaha MotoGP riders Valentino Rossi and Maverick Vinales.
The Japanese motorcycle manufacturer claims that the new model is more powerful and sportier than the ongoing model. The third avatar of the R15 now gets LED headlamps, new exhaust and R1 inspired LED taillight.
The 2017 Yamaha R15 V3.0 draws power from an updated 155cc engine which includes assist slipper clutch. The model is also equipped with upside down forks which give the motorcycle a sporty look. The model seems to be based on the same Deltabox frame as the current-gen R15.
We can expect the motor to deliver 19-21bhp of power and 17-19Nm of torque. Yamaha is known worldwide for its built quality and reliability, and the new updated engine will get forged pistons and patented cylinder head, which will deliver more performance. The powerplant will be mated to the same 6-speed gearbox as the current model.
Like the V2.0, the new model will feature the same dual piston Nissin caliper at the front and a single piston at the rear. The R15 V3.0 will ride on 17-inch alloy wheels shod with 100 section tyre at the front and 130 section at the rear.
On the safety side, the model will come to the Indian market equipped with ABS as standard or as an optional equipment. The 2017 R15 V3.0 also gets new colour schemes, notably, MotoGP edition blue with white and grey/white/red combo. In the Indian entry-level sportbike segment, the new R15 will compete against the likes of KTM RC200, Honda CBR150R and Bajaj RS200.
