Yamaha Rumoured To Be Planning 850cc Adventure Bike — Tiger Tamer?
The mid-sized off-road machine from Yamaha will likely borrow the engine from the MT-09.
The demand for higher capacity adventure bikes has increased tremendously in the recent years. Based on the sales figures of the BMW GS1200 series and the reincarnation of the legendary Honda Africa Twin, we can explicitly say that the big adventure bikes are popular.
According to a report by advrider, Honda's arch rival Yamaha also aims to produce an 850cc, three-cylinder adventure motorcycle with a power output of 115bhp. Currently, Yamaha's dual-sport motorcycle XT1200Z Super Tenere is a capable machine for rivaling BMW and Honda's adventure offerings.
It is expected that the new Yamaha 850cc adventure motorcycle will rival popular machines such as the BMW F800 GS and Triumph Tiger 800. The other motorcycle that Yamaha has in its lineup is the MT-09 Tracer which is a road-focused dual-purpose tourer.
The mid-sized off-road machine from Yamaha will likely borrow the engine from the MT-09. Last year at the EICMA Show in Milan, the manufacturer showcased the T7 Tenere Concept, which draws power from a 689cc Crossplane 2 engine producing 73.7bhp. The concept was fitted into a super-tall, lifted frame riding on a 21-inch front wheel.
