Volkswagen Considering Possible Ducati Sale — Hero A Potential Buyer?
The Volkswagen Group is considering selling Ducati as it looks to streamline operations after the dieselgate scandal and looks to change its strategy.
The Volkswagen Group, Europe's largest carmaker is looking to sell off Italian motorcycle manufacturer Ducati as it looks to streamline operations post the Dieselgate scandal.
According to Reuters, Volkswagen plans to use the sale of Ducati to fund a strategic overhaul as it looks to push towards an electric future and gets onboard with new mobility solutions.
Reuters sources state that Volkswagen has tasked investment banking advisory firm, Evercore to evaluate possible options to help fund its electric car future including the sale of the Ducati brand.
Audi, which is a part of the Volkswagen Group, purchased Ducati in 2012 for about €860 million (Rs 55.94 billion).
Reuters sources also stated that Ducati could appeal to Chinese buyers, or consortiums like the one that purchased Aston Martin, or even Hero MotoCorp, India's largest motorcycle manufacturer.
However, while Volkswagen has reached out to potential buyers no decision has been taken as of now on whether the iconic Italian superbike brand will be sold.
