UM Motorcycles Are Now Cheaper To Buy In India
UM Lohia Two-Wheelers announced a reduction in prices of the Renegade Sports S by Rs 4,199 and the Renegade Commando by Rs 5,684, with immediate effect to pass on the benefit of GST to buyers.
UM Lohia Two-Wheelers (UML) announced a reduction in prices of the Renegade Sports S by Rs 4,199 and the Renegade Commando by Rs 5,684, with immediate effect to pass on the benefit of GST to buyers.
The company, a joint venture between US-based UM International and Lohia Auto, has cut the prices of its bikes by up to Rs 5,700.
Taxes on motorcycles are set to reduce in most states with the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) from July 1, 2017, although it can vary from state to state.
Currently, the UM Renegade Sports S retails at Rs 178,518, while the Renegade Commando is priced at Rs 184,397 ex-showroom (Pune).
"We have decided to preemptively extend benefits before the GST is implemented. We are committed to delivering customer satisfaction and giving authentic, pure motorcycling experience to our community and consumers," UML's CEO Rajeev Mishra said in a statement.
Presently the taxes for motorcycles is 30 percent; however, under GST, most two-wheelers will attract a tax rate of 28 percent, 2 percent lower than the current taxes.
Bajaj Auto and Royal Enfield have already announced a revision in prices of their motorcycles to pass on the expected benefits of GST to prospective buyers.
